The first step in repairing a bike is to remove all parts that aren't broken. Next, you need to clean the frame and wheels. Finally, you should replace any missing parts.

Remove the Frame.

If there's no damage to the frame, then you're ready to start removing the parts. First, take off the handlebars by pulling them out of the stem. Then, pull the seat post out of the top tube. You'll also need to remove the pedals and crank arms.

Check the Wheels.

Next, check the wheels. Make sure they aren't bent or cracked. If they are, replace them immediately. Also, make sure the tires are inflated properly. If not, do so before continuing with the rest of the repairs.

Inspect the Brakes.

After checking the wheels, inspect the brakes. Check the brake pads for wear. If they're worn down, replace them. Also, check the brake cables for fraying. If they are, fix them right away.

Replace the Tires.

Next, check the tires. Look at the tread depth. If the tire has less than 1/4 inch of tread, replace it with a new one.

Clean the Gears.

Now, clean the gears. You need to remove any dirt or grime that might prevent them from turning smoothly. Start by removing the rear wheel. Remove the chain and then loosen the freewheel.
